Bole So Nihal

Bole So Nihal Sat Siri Akal

Bole So Nihal Sat Siri Akal in Punjabi Script

One of the Sikh Slogans or Jaikaras, this is divided in two parts. The first,”Bole so Nihal” means “whoever utters shall be fulfilled”. The second part “Sat Sri Akal” means “Eternal is The Great Timeless Lord”. Sat Sri Akal shouted in unison, responding to the call — Bole So Nihal is a call to action, or expression of ecstatic joy or an invocation for Divine aid.

Sat Sri Akal

In literal words Sat (Sanskrit satya) means ‘true’, ‘real’ or ‘eternal’; Siri is an honorific denoting ‘grace’ or ‘majesty’; Akal means ‘timeless’ or ‘transcending time’. Sat Sri Akal has been used since the creation of the Khalsa. In the normal situation when two Sikhs meet, with folded hands on either side in mutual courtesy and respect they exchange greetings of Sat Sri Akal pointing out the glory of God to each other.
