Ranjit Singh is known to be one of the
most outstanding rulers of Punjab. With his exceptional qualities of military
leadership, diplomacy, and administrative skills he welded together a large and
united Punjab from a conger of petty principalities and different communities at
war among themselves. He was proclaimed Maharaja in 1801. He succeeded in
establishing a Kingdom in Punjab, without any distinction of religion, caste,
color and creed. 2001 marks the bicentenary celebration of the coronation of
Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Continue on to learn how this event is going to be
